Steps are now being taken to build homes for these laboring men which they can afford to buy or rent, thus making Evansville a most desirable point.. Surrounding us on three sides is an agricultural section, and in ten miles radius you will find truck farmers. This means cheap garden truck, consequently cheap living—another inducement to the laborer to cast his lot in a pleasant place to live and labor. SCHOOLS Without boasting, Evansville has one of the finest public school systems in the country—-twenty-four buildings, including a magnificent High School building and a Manual Training School; also parochial schools. ■'.'-.'.'.. -.:-.', ■ ...',.. STREETS There are: sixty miles of improved streets-^-gravel, brick and asphalt—and the city is constantly adding more each year. • • BANKS There are banks with a. capital of $2,600,000 and deposits of;$16,- 000,000; surplus and profits, $679,661; circulation, $1,550,000; loans and discounts, $7,445,335; bonds and real estate, $2,745,213; cash and exchange, $3,233,965.
